AboutIn this section I'll do a brief self-introduction and focus the main goals for this site. This can get boring! My name is Artur D'Assumpção, I was born on 6th March of 1981 and I live in Portugal in a very charming town called Sintra, a magic place I urge you to visit if you can. I've always felt divided between Art and Science. Actually, I couldn't imagine myself living without those special gifts in life, for instance, listening/playing music, painting, drawing or even my latest passion, photography. On the other end, a more rational side have also impelled my interest for Computer Science, particularly in the Operating Systems and Computer Networks research fields. Luckily, life has given me the opportunity to take an academic and professional career in Computer Science. I've taken a Bachelor on Computer Networks and I am currently finishing a Master degree on the same subject at Instituto Superior Técnico/Technical University of Lisbon. For the past decade or so I've been investing a great deal of time on Computer Science related projects, either on a personal, academic or professional side. Most of these initiatives where done using UNIX/Unix-like operating systems, particularly with Linux, which evolution I've been following very closely. Naturally, I'm also an apologist and consumer of the Open Source ideology, principles and technologies. The main goal for this site is to have a place where it would be possible to share ideas, opinions and projects. You'll find several sections that try to accomplish these goals, including: - A ground zero section for personal projects (Hands on the Kernel); A section meant to stimulate healthy debates based on technical news and opinion articles (Kernel Headlines) and, last but not least, a humble Blog section where I'll post a regular and updated life report. Enough said, I hope you can find any value on the shared content and the most important, have fun! Once again, thank you for your visit!
